## What Must Be Ready Before Templating?

Most bad installs start with an early template. We only bring the Proliner once:

1.  Cabinets are installed, levelled and fixed to the wall.
2.  Sinks and faucets are on site, so we template the real bowl, not a spec sheet.
3.  Appliance specs are final, especially cooktop and slide-in range dimensions.
4.  Backsplash walls are finished, or at least boarded and flat.
5.  Any plumbing or gas relocation is complete.

If a builder asks us to template earlier to save a few days, we say no. The re-fit costs more than the wait. Our

## How Install Day Works

**Morning: protect and remove.** We cover floors and cabinet faces, disconnect the sink and remove the old top. Laminate removal is included; stone removal is quoted at $150-$350.

**Level and support.** We check level across every run. Cabinets within about 1/8 inch over 10 feet get shimmed. Any overhang over 10 inches gets steel flat-bar brackets recessed into the cabinet rail, so you cannot see them from below.

**Set and seam.** Pieces are set on a silicone bed. Seams are joined with two-part epoxy tinted to your slab colour and pulled flush with seam setters. Seams sit where the plan says: behind the range, at an inside corner or along the island edge.

**Reconnect.** Undermount sinks are clipped and epoxied, then we reconnect the faucet, P-trap and dishwasher drain and set the cooktop.

**Walk-through.** We clean up, run water, check for leaks and walk the counter with you. Only then is the final 25% due.

## Why Overhangs and Seams Decide Your Warranty

The two failure points we see most are cracked overhangs and opened seams. Quartz cantilevered past 12 inches without steel cracks under load. A seam over a dishwasher flexes and takes steam every cycle, so it opens within months. Our 15-year workmanship warranty, transferable for the first 5 years, covers our seams and our supports because we control where they go. That is also why we do not warranty tops cut by other shops.

## Condo and Commercial Installation Logistics

Downtown and lakeshore towers add steps. We book the freight elevator, size slabs and seams to the elevator cab and send WSIB and $5M liability certificates to property management. For restaurants, we install overnight and leave the space ready for service; our Queen West prep station job was done after close. See

## DIY vs Professional Countertop Installation

DIY can work for butcher block. It does not work for stone. A 3cm quartz slab weighs roughly 20 pounds per square foot, so a single island piece can top 400 pounds. Seams need tinted epoxy and seam setters, undermount sinks need clips rated for the load and a cracked corner during carry-in wastes the slab. Our crews handle that weight every day, and we carry the insurance if something goes wrong.

## Countertop Installation FAQs

### What happens on countertop installation day?

Our crew arrives at your agreed start time and protects floors and cabinets. We disconnect the sink and faucet, remove the old top and haul it away. We check the cabinets for level and shim where needed, lay a silicone bed, fit any recessed steel brackets for overhangs, then set the new counter pieces. Seams are joined with two-part, colour-matched epoxy and pulled tight with seam setters so the surfaces sit flush.

Next we fit undermount sink clips, reconnect the sink, faucet and P-trap, and set any cooktop. We clean up, run water to check for leaks and then walk the counter with you. The final 25% is due only after that walk-through. Most kitchens are done in one day; the silicone and epoxy cure overnight, so avoid heavy loads on seams for 24 hours.

### How much does countertop installation cost in Toronto?

Installed pricing on material we supply runs $65-$180 per square foot depending on the material tier: standard quartz $65-$120, Caesarstone and Cambria $110-$180, Calacatta porcelain $90-$150 and granite $70-$140. If you supply your own slab, fabrication and installation is $42-$68 per square foot. Laminate removal is included; stone removal is $150-$350 depending on sink reconnection complexity.

### Do you install countertops bought somewhere else?

Yes, through our fabrication-only service at $42-$68/sqft. We inspect the slab when it arrives, flag cracks or fissures before we cut and then template, fabricate and install it as we would any job. We do not install tops that another shop has already cut, because we cannot warranty their fit.

### How long does a countertop installation take?

The install itself takes one day on most kitchens. From slab selection to installed counter takes 2-3 weeks: selection in week 1, templating after cabinets in week 2, fabrication in 7-10 days and install in 1 day.

### Do I need a plumber after the countertop is installed?

Not for a standard sink and faucet. We reconnect the sink, faucet and P-trap on install day. If you are moving the sink location, adding a pot-filler or changing a gas line, that work belongs to a licensed plumber or gas fitter before templating.

### Are your installers insured?

Yes. Our crews are WSIB covered and the company carries $5M liability insurance. We also work to TSSA requirements and provide certificates to condo property managers on request.

### How do you install countertops in condos?

We book the freight elevator through property management, size slabs and seams so every piece fits the elevator cab and send WSIB and liability certificates in advance. This is routine in Yorkville, King West, Liberty Village and Humber Bay Shores.

### How long does install day take in Etobicoke or Scarborough?

The same as anywhere else, usually one day. Crews route via the Gardiner for Etobicoke and the 401 for Scarborough so they arrive at your start time.

### What if my cabinets are not level?

We check level at templating. Within about 1/8 inch over 10 feet we shim on install day at no extra charge. Beyond that, the cabinets need adjusting first, and we will tell you exactly where.

### Can you install over existing laminate?

No. Stone and quartz need to sit on cabinets, not on an old laminate top. We remove the laminate on install day as part of the price.
