Countertop replacement lets you keep those cabinets and go from worn laminate to stone in a single install day.

We combine removal, replacement and repair in one service. We tear out laminate, tile or dated granite, haul it away, set the new top on your existing cabinets when they are level and sound and reconnect the plumbing the same day. When a repair would do the job, we tell you that instead.

## What We Replace

-   **Laminate.** The most common job. Removal and disposal included.
-   **Tile tops.** Ceramic tile counters with stained or cracked grout.
-   **Dated granite.** 1990s and 2000s granite with dated colours or open seams. Removal $150-$350.

## Can Your Existing Cabinets Take Stone?

Stone is heavy. A 3cm quartz top weighs roughly 20 pounds per square foot. Before we commit, we check:

1.  **Level.** Within about 1/8 inch over 10 feet, we shim. Beyond that, the cabinets need adjusting.
2.  **Structure.** No water damage, sagging bottoms or loose face frames.
3.  **Support.** Corner and sink cabinets need full support along the top edge.
4.  **Overhangs.** Any overhang over 10 inches gets steel brackets.

If one cabinet fails the check, it is often a simple fix. We will tell you before fabrication.

## How a Replacement Install Works

**Templating over the old top.** Our Proliner crew templates over your existing counter, so you keep using the kitchen until install day. We plan seams and check whether the new layout changes any cutouts.

**Install morning.** We protect floors, disconnect the sink and dishwasher, cut the caulk line and lift the old top out. Laminate goes in our truck at no charge.

**Level and set.** Cabinets are shimmed where needed, a silicone bed is laid and the new top is set. Seams get colour-matched epoxy.

**Reconnect.** Undermount sinks are clipped and epoxied. The faucet, P-trap and dishwasher drain are reconnected and tested.

**Backsplash gap.** Removing an old top can leave a gap at the wall. We fill it with colour-matched silicone or add a quartz backsplash if you prefer.

## Countertop Replacement FAQs

### Can new countertops go on my existing cabinets?

Usually, yes. If your cabinets are structurally sound and level within about 1/8 inch over 10 feet, we can set new quartz or granite directly on them. At templating we check every run with a level and plan shims where needed. That is common in Scarborough and East York post-war kitchens, where the cabinet boxes are solid but the original laminate is worn.

If a cabinet is water-damaged, sagging or badly out of level, we will point it out before you commit, because stone is heavy and unforgiving. Sometimes a single base cabinet needs replacing; sometimes a simple adjustment is enough. Either way you will know before fabrication starts.

### How much does countertop replacement cost in Toronto?

The new top follows our standard installed pricing: $65-$120/sqft for standard quartz, $110-$180/sqft for Caesarstone or Cambria and $70-$140/sqft for granite. ### Should I repair or replace my countertop?

Repair if the damage is a small chip, a failed seam or a dropped undermount sink and the rest of the top is sound. Replace if there is a crack running through a section, widespread damage or you want a new material. Our chip repair service colour-matches resin on site.

### Do you remove and dispose of old countertops?

Yes. Laminate removal and disposal are included. Granite or stone removal is $150-$350 depending on sink reconnection complexity.

### Will my backsplash be damaged?

Old tile backsplashes sometimes chip at the bottom row when the top comes out. We cut the caulk line carefully and tell you upfront if a gap or tile repair is likely. Many clients take the chance to add a quartz backsplash.

### Can you reuse my sink and faucet?

Yes, if they are in good condition. Note that switching from a drop-in to an undermount sink usually means a new sink, because drop-in sinks have a visible rim.

### Do you replace bathroom vanity tops too?

Yes. Vanity swaps are usually a one-day visit, with sink and faucet reconnection.
