### An 11-foot island that every other shop wants to seam down the middle

Quote after quote shows a seam across the centre of the island, right where the vein should run and the family eats.

Why it happens here: Richmond Hill was Canada's fastest-growing community in the early 1990s, and many Bayview Hill and Oak Ridges homes from that boom have islands longer than a standard slab.
