Quartz countertops are the most requested kitchen surface in Toronto and the GTA. Engineered quartz is about 90-95% ground quartz bound with resin, so it is non-porous, stain resistant and never needs sealing. Stone fabrication quality decides whether those kitchen countertops fit, which is why templating, seams and edge work matter as much as the slab you choose. Here is what Toronto buyers ask first.
Installed quartz countertops in Toronto run $65-$120 per sqft for standard engineered quartz and $110-$180 per sqft for Caesarstone or Cambria. Calacatta porcelain sits at $90-$150 and natural granite at $70-$140. A typical 45 sqft GTA kitchen therefore costs about $2,925-$5,400 in standard quartz. Three numbers get confused: slab-only is the raw material price, fab-only ($42-$68 per sqft) is cutting and installing a slab you supply, and installed is the all-in price including Proliner templating, CNC fabrication, an eased edge, one sink cutout and laminate removal. Compare installed prices only. Stone removal adds $150-$350. Full cost breakdown.
Toronto kitchens mostly choose between four engineered quartz brands: Caesarstone, Cambria, Silestone by Cosentino and Hanstone. Caesarstone and Cambria are the two we hold direct authorized accounts with since 2010, which lets us match your sample board to slab yardage. Cambria jumbo slabs cover many 10-11 foot islands without a seam. Natural options include granite, which handles heat and outdoor use, Carrara, Calacatta and Statuario marble, which etch with acids, and quartzite, which is harder than granite but needs sealing. Large-format porcelain and Dekton suit range walls and outdoor kitchens, where quartz resin would yellow in UV. Compare materials.
Toronto has cut-and-install crews and full fabrication shops. Check four credentials before you pay a deposit. First, authorized fabricator status with Caesarstone or Cambria, so the slab matches the sample. Second, a Red Seal fabrication lead and in-house CNC bridge saws and waterjet, not subcontracted cutting. Third, Proliner laser templating done only after cabinets are installed, accurate to 1/16th inch. Fourth, insurance: $5M liability, WSIB coverage and TSSA compliance, plus NSF/ANSI 51 certified surfaces for restaurants. We have installed 1,800+ GTA kitchens and 400+ bathrooms since 2008 from our 20,000 sqft Toronto shop. Inside our shop.
Four traps kill most Toronto quartz countertop jobs: a seam placed in the wrong spot, an overhang that cracks under load, mitred lippage on the waterfall edge, and templating done before cabinets are set.
Low-end fabricators drop a seam over the dishwasher or middle of the sink run to save slab yield. Six months later the seam opens as the cabinet moves and water seeps behind the counter. Seams belong behind the range or at the island edge, marked at templating and reviewed before cutting.
How we place seamsQuartz cantilevered past 12 inches without steel bracket support cracks under weight. Any overhang over 10 inches needs steel brackets recessed into the cabinet rail before install, invisible from below.
Our bracket rule45-degree mitres done without CNC profiling show a lip where top meets side, catching dust and highlighting the seam. The mitre must be machined on a CNC profiler so the vein wraps continuously.
CNC edges and mitresBuilders push to template before cabinets are set to compress schedule. Walls shift, layouts change, the top does not fit. Templating only after final cabinet install, undermount sinks staged, backsplash walls finished, cutouts marked.
Templating checklistWe solve all four before the slab is cut: Proliner laser templating after cabinet install, written seam plan, CNC-profiled edges, bracket schedule for any overhang over 10 inches.

In-house CNC shop, Toronto
Every slab is measured, cut and polished in-house. Nothing is subcontracted, which is how we hold a 2-3 week window and a 15-year warranty.
Most countertop problems in Toronto are decided before anyone sees the finished kitchen. They happen when a template is taken too early, when a seam is placed to save slab rather than to suit the room and when a mitre is cut by hand. We built our process to take those decisions out of the guesswork.
Proliner laser templating records your installed cabinets to 1/16th inch. The digital file goes straight to our CNC bridge saws and waterjet, so nobody re-traces anything. Edges and waterfall mitres are machined on a CNC profiler. And David Lam, our Red Seal fabrication lead, reviews every slab before it is installed.
Authorized status with Caesarstone and Cambria since 2010 closes the last gap: the slab that arrives matches the sample board you chose. Add $5M liability, WSIB, TSSA compliance and NSF-certified installs for food service, and you have the reason 1,800+ GTA kitchens trusted us since 2008.

"Three units of our King West triplex. Volume pricing, consistent quality, PM kept us ahead of trades."
"Hanstone Marquina on our Riverdale basement bar. Six-foot waterfall mitred on their CNC, vein wraps perfectly."
"Cambria Brittanicca on our Oakville kitchen reno. Sample board matched slab yardage, no dye-lot surprises."
"Removed 20-year laminate from our Scarborough bungalow, installed quartz in a day. $2,400 under big-box quote."
"Our Oak Ridges island is 11 feet long and every other shop told us it needed a seam in the middle. They sourced a Cambria jumbo slab, showed us the layout on screen with the vein running end to end, and recessed steel brackets for the 14-inch seating overhang. Installed in a day with the perimeter counters. Total was $18,000, and it was exactly the number on the CAD quote. No surprises, no change orders, and the 15-year warranty transfers if we sell."
"Woodbridge kitchen with a 9-foot Caesarstone waterfall island. They explained the 10-inch bracket rule before we ever signed, put the steel in the cabinet rail and mitred both waterfall legs on CNC. No lip, no seam showing. $10,600 for island and perimeter, paid 25/50/25, done in under three weeks."

Yes. Customer-supplied slabs are $42-$68/sqft depending on edge profile, waterjet complexity and sink cutout count.
Quartz is engineered (90-95% ground quartz plus resin, uniform and non-porous). Quartzite is natural metamorphic sandstone with unique veining that requires sealing. We fabricate both.
Yes, removal is included on install day. Granite or stone removal is $150-$350 depending on sink reconnection complexity; laminate removal is included.
No, engineered quartz is non-porous. Clean it with soap and water. Harsh solvents, bleach and oven cleaner etch the resin and should never be used.
Eased and quarter bullnose edges are included in our per-sqft pricing. Full bullnose, ogee, dupont, chiseled and mitred aprons are quoted per linear foot on your CAD estimate, so you see the cost before deposit.
A waterfall mitre works on most islands 36 inches deep or more, provided one slab is long enough to wrap the top and both legs so the vein runs continuously. We confirm slab yield at templating before you commit.
Yes. Our 15-year workmanship warranty transfers to future owners for the first 5 years. Material warranties run 10 years to lifetime depending on the brand and SKU.
We do not recommend engineered quartz outdoors because UV light yellows the resin. For outdoor kitchens we install large-format porcelain or granite, which handle sunlight and Ontario freeze-thaw cycles.
Yes. Trade accounts get volume pricing, consistent spec across units, a dedicated PM and after-hours install where needed. Condo flippers turning 15-25 units a year use this to keep install dates fixed.
Yes. Every slab is cut in our 20,000 sqft Toronto shop on CNC bridge saws and waterjet, which keeps North York and Vaughan installs on a 2-3 week schedule.
Usually, if the cabinets are sound and level within about 1/8 inch over 10 feet. We check at templating and shim where needed, common in Scarborough and East York post-war kitchens.
Cabinets installed and level, sinks and faucets on site, appliance specs and backsplash walls finished. North York and Etobicoke builders who skip this usually pay for a re-template.
