An island that blocks the aisle in a compact 1940s East York kitchen
The new island looks right on paper, then the dishwasher door will not open past it and two people cannot pass while someone cooks.
Why it happens here: Much of East York was built in the late 1940s as modest homes for returning veterans, and even after second-storey additions the kitchens kept their narrow footprint.

It took two weeks from slab selection to install and cost $11,400. The waterfall legs were mitred on CNC so the vein wraps the corner, and the seam sits behind the range.
